Roofing Shingles Ontario
In this post I’m going to focus on roofing shingles Ontario. When you are in the process if deciding what materials to use on your roof there are many factors that you must resolve before making your final decision. One of the most important of these factors is what kind of weather you are likely to experience in your region.
This is especially important for roofing shingles Ontario. Why is this so important? Well, it is pretty simple really. The weather can have a dramatic effect on the longevity of your roof so this is defiantly something you need to investigate when choosing your materials.
The weather in many locations in Canada and indeed other parts of the world can in general be very cold during large parts of the year. This type of cold weather can have an impact on the life expectancy of the roofing shingles that you choose to use in your roofing projects.
Most of the products come with a life expectancy of 25 years but if the weather in your region is particularly cold then this can be cut down by 10 meaning you should expect to replace them on average every 15 years instead. This is a dramatic drop from what a lot of people expect but there is not much we can do about the weather.
So, when choosing your materials make sure that you have a full understanding of the climate in the area that you live and what different variations you can expect to experience through the year. It is important that you understand this before researching the materials that you are going to finally choose for your roof.
You can get varying different qualities of shingle and as is plainly obvious the bigger your budget the better quality you can afford to purchase. If the climate where you live is particularly harsh then it can be important for you to spend a little more on quality.
Ontario is a very large province in Canada so it will depend on where you are located but in general the further North you live then the colder and harsher it will be, especially through the winter months.
Ontarians know well enough that through the months of December through to March temperatures can drop to below -25C. With weather conditions as harsh as these choosing roofing shingles Ontario is a very important decision when you’re trying to maximise the longevity of your roof.

I’m hoping to install some sort of heat tracing system on part of my roof…several feet of shingles and valley. My shingles are two years old, 30 year fiberglass, “architectural” as opposed to the three tab shingle. Is there any preferred manufactures, methods of installation, alternatives? thanks in advance!
